Totara Fun Day 

Today was the Totara fun day. The first activity that i did was trying to make a mouse with felt and a candy cane, I kind of cut my felt the wrong way so my candy cane tail was really crooked so my tail was on the side of the body. After the candy cane mice  I  did the go for it sports, for the sports we had to be in partners and be on this board with wheels and we had to be pushed by the other partner to get as much balls as we could. The other activities were cotton candy

Athletics Training 2018

On Monday the 5th of November is athletics day, the whole senior school is practising for this special day.Now I will tell you what I learnt while I was training. For high jump I learnt that when you start, start of slow then get faster when you are turning a corner,  that's when you start to sprint so you get momentum. I also learnt for high jump you should do " scissor Legs" and flail you arms up and try to land on your feet.  The next sport that we did was long jump, for long jump you should sprint as fast as you can and give yourself a boost by jumping really far and very high, this will make you go farther you should also jump with one foot so it helps you more then to just jump with 2 feet.

Exploration Rotations

The exploration rotation is basically when we go to different classes and do different things, for example the classroom that I went to a room thar had art and room 2 had photography  and room 12 had clay moulding other rooms had different things but I picked art. For art we designed a piece of Styrofoam and painted over it and then put  a piece of paper over if then pat it down then take the piece of paper of then you have that design.

Steam Extravaganza

On Tuesday we had  a program call .S.T.E.A.M. which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths. My friend and I chose breakout edu which is basically an escape room. It was girls vs boys sadly the boys won. I was the team leader, Imogen and Leah were telling us the instructions and safety rules. I got the first clue, there were about 10 clues. When we got all of them, one of the boxes had a key, we obviously got over excited and ran to  the box and unlocked the padlock, inside the black box was another box with 6 padlocks on it. Sadly I had guitar after we unlocked the box and missed all of the fun but it was fun while it lasted.

Cross Country 2018

Monday 28th of May was cross country.

I was not happy getting out of bed but I new I couldn't fake sick.

I didn't get a placing but I tried at least.

Going to cross country wasn't too bad until we got their, my heart was beating 100 mph. The whole run was the the most tiring thing in the world. This photo was probably the happiest time I was the whole run I was tired and slow. 

Bike Safety

At school these three people taught us about bike safety but only  bike safety we also learn't how to prepare your bike or helmet when you want to ride your bike.
Hough firstly taught us to put on a helmet, you must have a good look to see if their are any cracks in the helmet, you must make sure that the straps are untangled and the round bulky part is right under your ears. 

To make sure your bike is safe for you, you have to make the handle bars tight enough so it doesn't  flip around when you are biking. You also have to check to see if your tires are fulled with air. The bike seat also needs to be up to the height that suits you.

After we did all the checks we did courses that helps you with steering, control and to use your body to move around. Overall it was really fun.

Maths Jelly Capacity

At school we were learning to measure miller litres and litres. Me, Julianne,Ysabella  made jelly to experiment with miller litres, we each had a plastic cup and we had 200mls in the cup it self. We had 4 flavors of jelly and we could put as any miller litres but couldn't go over 200mls. We used a special measuring cup to find the right about to put in our plastic cup.

The measuring cup had numbers on the side so we can tell how much we want to put in or cup. For the first flavor which was strawberry we put  40mls, for the Lemon one we put 30mls of jelly, for the lime one we put 40mls and for  the last flavor which was orange we put 50mls. All together we have 160mls of jelly. We did this because we needed to learn about the differences with miller litres and litres and miller metres and metres.

Overall I learned loads about the differences with miller litres, litres, miller metres and metres. It was really fun learning about all the types of measurements and the fact that we used jelly to help us learn about measurements was 10 times more fun.

Food Science

The Elixer Of Love Opera

The Elixer of love Opera is a NZ opera and came to perform a play that is hundreds of years old. The Elixer of love was first performed in 1883 in Italy.There is meant to be about 60 actors but when they came to perform for us there were only 5 characters. It was also meant to be 2 hours but it was only about 45 minutes for us. The play was about a man named Nemorino  loved a women named Adina  but Adina liked an actor that was really famous his name was Belcore. There was this other guy that helped the man named Dulcamara attract the woman with his magic spells. The famous actor and the women were about to get married until the fish 'n' chips owner was about to leave and then the women felt bad and decided to marry the fish 'n' chips owner and happy ever after. I loved the show it was a funny show with beautiful singing. My most favourite part was when Belcore came in to the room and made the whole crowd go crazy.

The Resurrection

Room  3 had to recreate the Resurrection using rocks, sticks, moss and plastic plates.

The Resurrection is when people didn't believe that Jesus was the son of God and people started to complain to the pilot. So one day Jesus was walking a path to his tomb with a very heavy cross on his back. Jesus fell three times every time he fell the soldiers gave him a whip on the back. When Jesus finally arrived he got nailed onto the cross he was holding  on his back. The people that actually believed Jesus gathered around him and cried and prayed. After he died he got put into his tomb and a large rock covered the opening. One day Mary and some other people went to go visit his tomb, but the large rock had rolled over, then came an angel he said why are you looking for Jesus he has risen from the dead. Then Jesus rose behind his tomb and said why are you looking for me go and tell the dispels I have risen.

This is my piece of artwork that I made for the children's day at the redwood forest.

Some people from my class gathered some leaves from some trees and bushes scattered around the school. First we got a square piece of fabric we got some dye and used a paint brush to dab on the piece and the dye would bleed into a cross witch created a beautiful background.  The next day we got a piece of blank paper and did some practise art on it, we used the leaves that we gathered the other day and painted the leaf and used it as a stamp and just put the paint side of the leaf down and used a paper towel to press on the leaf and it created a beautiful leaf shape. The next day we got our piece fabric with the cross shapes and we did the exact same with our practise sheets. It all turned out wonderful it looked super good and we are the only class in the whole school  to be doing this. So in the redwoods we will be able to see our amazing artwork.

Ash Wednesday

Ash is when you write a promise and burn it with some palm leaves, collect the ashes and the priest or a teacher will put there finger in the ashes and make a cross on our forehead.

All About Me Bag

This is my all about me bag, my all about me bag contains things that represent me or I really love or like doing. My all about me bags has a drawing of a drum set because since last year I have bean playing the drums and I also love playing the drums very much. My bag also contains a drawing of rugby ball because I played touch rugby last year and I am hoping that I can play this year as well. My bag also has a drawing of a watermelon because watermelon is one of my most favourite fruits. My bag also contains a picture of a air plane because when i'm older I want to be a pilot and travel the world because I love travelling.
